Charlotte has worked at Tvåla & Tvaga since fall 2017. She started in the Haga store when we opened the soap factory in Kronhusbodarna and Anna started working there full time. Then after Charlotte's maternity leave, it was time for Anna to be on maternity leave and what was better than Charlotte starting in production? So since 2020, Charlotte has been working most of the time in the soap factory and ensures with a sure hand that all our good soaps are made. Aren't you curious about what life as a soap maker is like? Check it out here!

Had you made soap before you started working at Soap & Wash?
I've been making soap since I left home when I was 20. I'm really passionate about making things from scratch and pretty quickly soap making became a big part of my home. My first soap was with goat's milk and became a hard, smelly thing that lathered badly. But the joy of lathering up with a homemade soap in the shower after some experimentation; unbeatable!
What is the most fun part of making soap?
Weighing oils and ingredients and measuring fragrances is something I love, but nothing is as amazing as when the soap batter is ready to be poured into the mold. It's all creamy and you know that, now, it will be a perfect soap
What is your favorite raw material?
It's definitely when I'm making the fragrance for Fantastic, and I measure the essential oil of green mint. The scent is fresh, sharp, sweet and fresh at the same time. The spearmint simply makes me happy.
What is your favorite soap to make?
Lovely! It's a delight every time, and is the soap that never fails. The cardamom essential oil is lovely and it's so much fun to mix in all the ground cardamom that gives the scrub effect.
Can everyone become a soap maker?
I think that of course, you can really be anything you want, as long as you feel the passion for it. And the passion is probably the crucial thing. For example, I like to bake, but would never want to do it full time. Making soap is something else for me; I do it full time, with the same joy every time! When I start a new batch of soap, all other thoughts are turned off and the focus is total. It becomes quiet in my otherwise cluttered mind and I'm kind of in my own little bubble. It is wonderful!
Tips for those who want to try at home?
There is so much information about soap and handmade soap that is easy to find and understand. Then I think you should start simple, like with a soap on just olive oil or canola oil. If you feel that it's your thing, you can gradually get more fun ingredients, as long as they are of good quality. The best thing about soap is that you can vary it endlessly with herbs, clays, oils and scents.
