No one has missed our popular two-piece ceramic soap dishes. So stylish and practical. Also made wall to wall with our own soaps, local craftsmanship at its best! We asked Mia, who runs Bäx pottery, a few questions.

How long have you worked as a potter? I moved into Kronhusbodarna in Nov 2006 so it will be 17 years this November. More than 30 years, help! (I started Bäx Krukmakeri in 1989)

Tell us about your relationship with clay: Clay is so malleable and remains durable for hundreds of years after firing. Incomparable material that is "everywhere" in principle I chose to work with earthenware because it has such good properties. It is light and porous even after glaze firing, which means that it insulates what you have in it. Hot coffee stays hot and you don't have to burn your fingers, cold water stays cold. The roots stay cool which the plants love and I love creating with it.

What do you make most of? My hemispherical bowls in five different sizes from 9cm to 26cm in diameter are probably what I sell the most of, then there are coffee mugs of various kinds, latte, café au lait, macchiato, espresso and regular mug 2.5 dl.

What is the most fun to create? Big generous plates in beautiful colors!

How did your soap dish come about? My neighbor Anna Stenegärd (owner of T&T) comes one day with her wish for a soap dish with a grid. I saw complicated little "sticks" that would crack in front of me huuu, but one day in the shower I see the "grid" I am standing on. It's a flat plate with holes very close together so it was just to make a prototype for Anna. The rest is history 

What should the perfect coffee cup be like in your opinion? The perfect coffee cup should be made of earthenware and have a slight bend in the mouth so that the lip is supported and not a drop runs down the outside, soft upward ear so that the cup stays upright (does not fall forward in the grip).

What is your favorite soap? Skina is my favorite soap after Tord Karlsson's violet soap
